CHOCO signed agreements with the Ministry of Youth, Human Resources and Sports, on behalf of the government of the Maldives, to run separate programs hydroponics and quantity surveying. The agreements were signed in 29th September 2009 in the Ministry.
Both the programs are funded by Maldives Government's TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) program. CHOCO is set to finish both the programs before March 2010.
CHOCO's "How To Hydroponics" training program will seek to train people in the field of hydroponic agriculture. At a time tourism is waving the region, it is a new market opportunity to do earn a career and money in the field.
With this objective in mind, CHOCO will conduct 4 separate training programs, during the next half year. Each program will train 25 participants and totally 100 participants will be trained.
Quantity Surveying program is a training program to bring in more people to the construction field in order to fulfill the challenges of rapid urbanization in the region. 30 participants will be trained in this program.
