CHOCO is a non-governmental organisation based in G.Dh. Thinadhoo, dreaming and striving about the development of Thinadhoo. CHOCO believes that the problems and the mishaps in the society occur through weaknesses in the social, economic and the political system in place. These weaknesses call for a higher authority to act as private individuals does not have the necessary incentive to act to prevent and solve the problems and mishaps. Keeping this in mind, this is where CHOCO steps in. CHOCO dreams to be the bridge which would connect the distances created by the inherent weaknesses in the society. CHOCO strives to be part of the development, to increase the pace of the development, and to make a real difference to the lives of all the people in the community we operate in. CHOCO would operate as an agent where it would work to bring the positive change and development.
CHOCO was founded with the aforementioned dream and hence it is the vision of the NGO. To achieve the vision, the NGO activities are divided in to 5 broad areas and this has become the objectives of the NGO.
The 5 objectives of CHOCO are;
•To work towards community and economic development
•To enhance humanity and humility
•To observe nature, environment and culture and help to preserve them
•To assist the community in capacity development of the people
•To analyse the societys situation and communicate it to the public
CHOCO will devise various programs in these regards and carry them out in Thinadhoo, as resources become available. As most of the local NGOs, CHOCO lack necessary financial backing to support its projects. But the drive, motivation and enthusiasm are forever young. As soon as the resources become available, CHOCO would be ready to help and carry out projects that are required to the society. CHOCO will be making proposals for various projects simultaneously to the relevant parties for funding and other support.
